Email AddressResearch InterestsMy initial research on parent-child relationships and child
development was extended to research on husband-wife relationships and
family mental health. Both the Child Report of Parent Behavior
Inventory and the Marital Autonomy and Relatedness Inventory revealed
that perceptions of family members are related to mental health and
happiness. Current research with a Perceptions of God Inventory has
similar goals: l. to determine factors of perceptions or interpretations
of God from agreement with concepts and metaphors. and 2. to determine
correlations of those perceptions in religious group membership,
behavior, and quality of life. Factor analysis of the inventory at
www.unc.edu/~schaefer/ has identified cluster or factors of God as
ruler, teacher, parent, artist, nature, stranger, bystander, and myth.
Significant correlations are found with religious behavior and quality
of life.
